Course Description

For Students

Are you interested in knowing how to wire Internet, TV, Audio, and Security systems in a home or business?  In this course, you will learn that, and so much more.  Think Smart Home!  You will also learn about computer repair and maintenance, as well as Robotics curriculum using both hardware and software to make robots perform different tasks.

You will have the opportunity to be involved with our Career and Technical Student Organization (SkillsUSA), where you will learn about leadership, competitive events, and much more!



For Parents

5230 Computer Tech Support allows students to explore how computers work. Students learn the functionality of hardware and software components as well as suggested best practices in maintenance and safety issues. Through hands on activities and labs, students learn how to assemble and configure a computer, install operating systems and software, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.

5234 Networking Fundamentals introduces students to concepts of local and wide area networks, home networking, networking standards using the IEEE/OSI Model, network protocols, transmission media and network architecture/topologies. Security and data integrity will be introduced and emphasized throughout this course. The purpose of this course is to offer students the critical information needed to successfully move into a role as an IT professional supporting networked computers. Concepts covered will include TCP/IP client administration, planning a network topology, configuring the TCP/IP protocol, managing network clients, configuring routers and hubs as well as creating a wireless LAN.
