My main objective with each student is to cultivate a character of excellence instilling good work ethics, culinary skill, successful attitudes, and a desire to learn more. Upon leaving my classroom, each student will be able to sufficiently function in an industrial kitchen with a common knowledge of basic cooking practices and how to implement them in a restaurant setting.

A passion for catering welled within me during my student culinary career, and I quickly landed a job at an Indianapolis catering company, Thomas Caterers of Distinction. I fulfilled the position of Garde Manger Chef as well as Event Chef; running weddings, Superbowl after parties, and house parties. Joining this experience with my purchasing and receiving position at Ivy Tech Community College, I was able to obtain an ideal amount of knowledge on running a restaurant/business. My passion for teaching others never waned and I took the Advanced Culinary Arts teaching position here at Central Nine four years ago.

I am a Certified Culinarian through the American Culinary Federation and a certified Proctor and Instructor for the National Restaurant Association's ServSafe Manager's program. I was also an Indianapolis Rose Award nominee in 2012 and a Hospitality Ambassador for Ivy Tech Community College.
